Anime Soc was set up in the lent term 2002,
as a student society at Lancaster University. It was a bit of a bumpy start - we
didn't really know what was going on with the Uni, but we sorted ourselves out towards the end of the year. Our
original name was Lancaster University Manga and Anime Society, but the word 'University' had to be dropped because
weren't an official student society for a time, but we now now - wheee! Even though there was once a fire in the
building where we have our showings and we had to move the society for a while, we are still going strong!
We meet up every Wednesday at 3:00pm in Furness Lecture Theatre 1 . Showings start at 3:30pm. Previously we used to meet in the Chaplaincy Centre Quiet Room but we recently moved to the bigger lecture theatre. We usually watch an anime movie, or a few episodes of a series. We try to show a good variety of things, so there's something for everyone. Meetings usually finish at 6pm, so those members who are also members of Pulsar have time to get to the Chaplaincy Centre for their meeting at 6:30pm. We're not just showing films, though. One of the main reasons for our society is to help you meet other people with the same interests, and find friends to share your collection with.
We also have our own private conferrence on LUBBS, also called LUMAS. Please contact one of the exec members for more information on becoming part of it.
